OPEN BETA ON NOVEMBER 6

The open beta

The RiftArmada open beta starts on November 6. There will be no key, no invite and no waiting list. Until then the launcher is open to testers: download it, make a pilot, and fly. It is free, and it stays free.

Your progress may be reset

This is a beta, so we are still changing the economy, the ladder and the maps underneath you. Any character, any level, any amount of Credits, Rift Crystal or gear can be wiped at any point before launch. We will announce a wipe in advance where we can, but we cannot promise that every one will be announced, and we cannot promise to restore anything.

Play the beta because the flying is good today, not to bank a head start. Nothing you earn here is guaranteed to survive to launch.

What is in, and what is not

Being specific is the point. Some of what the game will have is not built yet, and you should know that before you sign up rather than after.

In the beta now

  • Flight and combat. Lasers, rockets, Heat Pulse, Overdrive, shields, PvE and PvP.
  • Twenty-nine open maps across three faction homes and contested space, joined by portals.
  • Your hangar. Ships, fitting, generators, drones, skins.
  • The shop, in-game missions and redeem codes.
  • The Auction: hourly, daily and weekly rounds.
  • Clans with roster, ranks and alliances.
  • Squads and live chat.
  • Ranks and standing, per faction, with a live board.
  • Resources and cargo: mining nodes, and a hold on every ship you own.
  • iPhone and Android. Play on your phone too.

Not built yet

  • Rift Raids. Rift Keys drop and the shop sells them, but the raid itself is not playable.
  • The Deep Rift. Its three maps are built and closed for now.
  • The inventory screen. Gear is managed from the hangar for now.
  • Battle pass and VIP. Both are groundwork, neither is live.
  • Linux and PlayStation. Not built yet.

Nothing costs money

There are no purchases in the beta. Gold is not on sale yet, and play never earns it: it will only ever be bought. The store is switched off, and we take no card details anywhere. If you are asked to pay for RiftArmada right now, it is not us.

When payments do arrive, the rule they will follow is already fixed: money buys speed and cosmetics, never a permanent advantage. Everything with power on it is earnable in play.

Telling us something is broken

Press F8 in game. It opens a one-box report, sends what you typed along with where you were and what build you are on, and closes. That is the fastest route and the one that reaches us with enough context to act on.

To report a player rather than a bug, type /report in chat, or click a pilot’s name in the chat log and pick a reason. Reports go straight to our moderation queue.

For anything longer, the Discord is where we read bug threads and post what we are working on.

Reaching a person

Account problems, or anything you would rather not post in public: our help centre. You can open a ticket there with your game account and read the answer in the same place, even if you cannot get into the game.

If you cannot reach that page at all, or you are making a data request: contact@riftarmada.com. We are a very small team, so give us a few days either way.
